Welcome to SingingXtra, where musical people offer that Xtra ingredient for your singing enjoyment. David Meek, Musical Director, is actively involved with leading, organising, creating, developing, accompanying and enjoying working with many singing groups in schools, community groups, private individuals and business organisations.
The St Albans Singers are welcoming and "open to all", for people who want to sing but think they can't, those who don't read music, those without experience, for carers and people who are cared for plus, of course, those who can already sing and know the pleasure of singing, particularly in a friendly, non-judgemental, supportive atmosphere.
SingingXtra will help you when:
- celebrating or commemorating those special lifetime moments - births, birthdays, weddings and funerals
- planning a function, corporate event, private party
- supplying soloists, singers, choirs, instrumentalists or ensembles for the soundtrack of your special occasion
- starting a choir or singing group
SingingXtra's Musical Director is David Meek, his experience of leading choir's in the work place began in the City of London with Sun Alliance Insurance (a former name of today's MoreThan).
David has been leading musical groups, piano playing and making music with others since childhood; he is regularly working with customers in business, education and the wider community. With many years’ experience in the music industry as manager of an award-winning business, David has performed in a wide range of venues, from The Royal Albert Hall to the Stables Theatre at Wavendon and even a lamp post in Central Milton Keynes!
David worked with MK Music Service from 2007. In 2012 he became Singing Leader and wrote the Singing Plan for the MK Music Hub. As a Director of the Advisory Board for the Milton Keynes Music Hub, David provided valuable support during the build-up to and after the launch of the MK Music Hub; he also wrote their Singing Plan.
After reorganisation of the MK Music Service, David continued his work in the MK area as a teacher member of the MK Music Co-op. David is a registered Teacher, Adult Education Tutor & Music Leader with an enhanced DBS check. He is regularly working in schools, engaging the children and developing their singing activities which improves the ethos of the school; as music benefits the wider life of the school.
David provide's leadership for singers which will support, challenge and develop their skills in different music genres. For those with Parkinsons and their carers, David established the Blue Notes to take advantage of the natural therapeutic benefits offered by singing to combat the many voice symptoms associated with Parkinson's Disease.
